001 / THE OPERATOR
Izhert — web designer Johannesburg, founder of Synapse Surge.
One operator, one stack, one promise. I ship productised websites for South African service businesses — start to finish, in-house. You talk to the person writing your code.
The operator
I’m izhert. I founded Synapse Surge in 2024 with a clear goal — to give small service businesses in South Africa a cleaner, kinder way to get online. The productised model makes that possible: a fixed-scope Next.js site, POPIA-compliant from day one, from a Next.js website developer South Africa can talk to on the phone.

Method
Four principles that show up on every build.
Productised over bespoke.
A fixed scope means a fixed quote and a predictable calendar. You can plan around it.
POPIA-first, not POPIA-later.
Privacy policy, cookie consent banner, data-collection disclosure — day-one defaults. Built in from the start.
Next.js native.
Server components, edge caching, native metadata, App Router. A web platform, not a theme.
One price, one timeline, in writing.
The included list is in your quote. Everything we agree to is on paper before we begin.
What we don’t do
A short list of boundaries — a POPIA compliant website works best on the right foundations.
No CMS theme wrangling.
We build what you need from the ground up — no WordPress theme dressed up as a bespoke build.
No plugin-as-architecture.
We build what you need from the ground up — no plugin stacks.
No SaaS site builders.
Not Wix, not Squarespace, not Webflow. You own your code and your data.
No mystery-box discovery phases.
You know the scope before you sign the quote. Clarity, up front.
